Why we can’t take fresh IDs

A more experienced ID will give you a better peace of mind.

As a homeowner, if given a choice between an experienced ID vs a fresh ID, who would you choose? Of course the more experienced one right?

Not that we are trying to look down on them or create a stereotype, but the fact is, someone with more experience is much more likely to finish the job well.

We’ve even heard of cases where new IDs quit halfway and leave the homeowner hanging. This is a real example.

We have a small ID firm that decided to employ a NAFA graduate, who was adamant that she was passionate about the job and designing spaces. They spent a lot of time to teach her, even though they were extremely busy with ongoing projects and shifting to a bigger showroom.

To help her monetarily, the boss gave her base salary (not the norm in the industry), and also passed her the commissions that he closed, to incentivise her.

Fast-foward 6 months later, she quit.

Reason being, she didn’t want to run site, meaning she didn’t want to spend the effort to go down to the house during renovation to make sure all is going well. Isn’t this the base requirement for all good interior designers or contractors?

What will then happen to the existing owners that are renovating with her?

That’s why we mandate a minimum 3 year experience requirement for all IDs and contractors that work with us. For fresh IDs, they are welcome to tag along a senior ID, but they must be handheld all the way.
