Whole House Painting Isn’t Always “Whole” House
Do you know that no matter what "full house painting package" you buy, painting your kitchen walls will almost always cost extra? And it’s usually around $300.
Now you might be thinking “why is my kitchen not considered part of my house? is my ID trying to ‘tok’ me?”
What does painting package really include, and what does it not?
Let us explain.

Traditionally, kitchens came with wall tiles, just like your bathrooms. This means painters never needed to paint kitchen walls — because there wasn’t anything to paint!
Hence, from the painters’ perspective, a full house painting excludes kitchen wall. It is never part of their job scope!
But fast forward to today, not everyone retiles their kitchen during renovations anymore. Sometimes, to save on hacking & retiling costs, homeowners will just plaster over the old tiles.
Now, if you have a plain, white wall sitting there, what’s the first thing that would come to your mind? Probably to paint it into a colour that’s more fitting with the rest of the house right?
So if you suddenly ask the painters to paint those walls, they’ll definitely charge extra (and your ID will pass that cost on to you).
Which is why before you commit to any painting package, always make sure to check with your ID what’s included and what’s not.
Here’s a quick cheat sheet for you:
Not included: Kitchen Walls, Gates, Doors, Big Sewage Pipes
Sometimes included (mostly included now, but pls still check) : Door Frames, Electrical/Water Pipes, Service Yard
We know these little details can be very frustrating at times, but as with most things in renovation, it’s the details that matter!
