Get your electrical unit rates before signing

So many homeowners get a rude shock when they find out how much they are getting charged for electrical costs.

Watch our tiktok channel if you lazy to read.

Many IDs will tell you that they cannot give you the electrical quote upfront because it can only be determined on site i.e. after signing with them.

This may be true, but not entirely.

Each electrical point is charged individually, so it is true that you can only determine the final cost after going on site and discussing exactly how many points you need and where to place them.

But, while they cannot give you the full quote, they can always give you the unit rate or a provision for electrical works. Remember to ask!

Depending on size of the unit, electrical costs can range from a mere $2,000 as per above, to $8,000 or more, especially if you are using smart systems.

This is not a small amount.

Furthermore, many IDs will mark-up this electrical cost quite significantly, as you have already signed with them, making it harder for you to “pull out”.

The electrical cost is a function of its unit rates (i.e. cost per electrical point).

With the unit rates, at least you can work out a rough estimate and won’t be so shocked if the final cost comes out way higher than expected.

Also, you are able to compare with other ID’s unit rates, before signing the contract.

This way, we can mitigate another form of overcharging by the IDs!
