Curved Carpentry
Y’know how every house tour video these days always seems to have that curved carpentry? It’s like curves everywhere! Curved cabinets, curved shelves, curved walls. Before you jump on the bandwagon, there are a few things you should know about curved carpentry that people don’t always mention.

1. What Kind of Curve Are You Talking About?
Don’t just tell your ID, “I want curved carpentry.” Not all curves are the same. You got big curves and small curves. Bigger curves obviously cost more. So think about how big you really want that curve. Don’t get swept away just because it looks fancy in someone else's house.
2. Curve Alignment to the Door
You also need to think about how the curve lines up with the door. Do you want it to be flush with the door, or do you want the curve to extend beyond the door? Both are possible, but if you’ve got a strong preference, speak up early, or you might end up with something that doesn’t match your vision.
3. Manage Your Expectations
Here’s the thing—curved carpentry is all about craftsmanship (aka 手工). Because of that, there’s a bigger margin for error. You gotta be prepared for slight variations because curves are a bit harder to perfect than straight lines. But that’s part of the charm, right?
4. It’s Not as Pricey as Some IDs Make It Out to Be
Alright, let's talk dollars and cents. Curved carpentry isn’t as crazy expensive as some people say. The way carpenters charge is pretty standard—just like regular carpentry, it's based on the length (measured in feet—1 foot is around 30cm). For the curve itself, they’ll add a lump sum per side, which usually falls in the low to mid hundreds. But if your ID tells you that adding a curve to both sides is gonna cost you $1K or more per side, time to start asking questions because that’s definitely not the standard pricing.
So there you have it! Before you decide to curve your cabinets or shelves, make sure you know what you’re getting into. Curves are trendy, sure, but going in with your eyes open will save you some heartache and some dollars!
