This tiling trick can make your place much classier

Want to know how to differentiate between a condo and HDB reno? Look at the toilet (and maybe kitchen)!

Watch our tiktok channel if you lazy to read.

Look at the photos above, it is clear that one is classier than the other, and of course the classier one is the condo toilet.

But what actually makes the difference? It is actually something very subtle.

It is the way that the wall corners are joined.

When 2 walls join together, there are 2 ways to do it:

  1. Use a PVC piping to cover the corner

2. Cut the edge of the tiles at a 45° angle so that they fit together to form a perfect 90° corner

This is what they call ‘45 degrees edging’, or mitred tiling, or what we like to call ‘condo tiling’

We are always fascinated how such a subtle change can improve the aesthetics of the place significantly.

For condo reno, it should be included in your quotation. Ask your ID if you don’t see it. After all, you are living in a condo.

For HDB reno, the standard would be PVC piping. If you want a more seamless look, you can always request for it. It costs about 20% more, mainly due to the labour cost to slice the tiles.

In our pov, we think it is absolutely worth it, and every homeowner should do it.
